"Not-for-profits face myriad rules and regulations, but Holly strives to ensure no fiscal or regulatory restraint ever hinders them from making the world a better place. "
Holly W. Caporale, CPA has served the not-for-profit sector for nearly 40 years by seamlessly integrating her technical accounting knowledge with her passion for the not-for-profit community. As a director of Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell (CBM)’s nonprofit services group, Holly oversees many of the tax and audit clients within the firm’s not-for-profit practice, specifically those requiring audits in accordance with Uniform Guidance.
Widely recognized for her approachability and empathy, Holly has a knack for listening to concerns and taking swift action to ensure even the most nuanced concerns are addressed and solved. This quality has earned her a highly coveted role when working with the boards of directors, audit committees and executive management of the not-for-profits she serves.
Not-for-profits are continuously challenged to balance their mission and purpose to comply with complex rules and regulations. Holly carefully breaks down complex technical issues into terminology her clients can understand thanks to her years of service to the niche. That includes 10 years working with not-for-profit clients as a partner at Drolet & Associates, PLLC before joining CBM, and six years before then at a national firm.
In addition to supporting not-for-profits throughout the region, Holly is heavily involved with training the next generation of accounting and advisory professionals at CBM by transferring her years of knowledge and experience and bringing more younger team members into committee meetings to assist clients firmwide.
When she isn’t helping clients, Holly loves spending time outdoors playing golf or enjoying a sunny day at the beach. She is an avid University of Virginia basketball fan.
