Join Pete Reilly on Thursday, April 30 from 8:30-9:30 am for a special presentation on the best practices for building a community of inclusion within your organization.
Peter Reilly will be featuring a managing partner’s perspective on integration as a means to diversity and inclusion. Attendees of the presentation will learn the equation (D+I)e=C, or VC. This concept, developed at CBM based on our award-winning best practices approach to expanding diversity and inclusion throughout the firm, emphasizes that there must be a desire to create a vibrant community in the workplace before any recognizable gains in diversity and inclusion will become apparent.
Barriers to diversity will be discussed, such as the geographic diffusion of team members, demographics, subconscious bias, successful/failed legislation, advocacy and more. Barriers to inclusion will also be discussed, including geography once more, virtual workplaces, the lack of mentorship programs, or clear paths for advancement, job titles and positions, work silos, a work environment lacking any sense of belonging, no calls to action, and more. A word/picture association game will be played to unlock potential biases and uncover attendees’ level of knowledge. A short video will also be played on diversity. Finally, Pete’s presentation will highlight what steps CBM is taking to ensure the firm has a vibrant community, including taking an inclusive approach to rewriting the firm’s mission statement and core values.
