PDF: Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell Named to Bethesda Magazine’s 2022 List of Top Places to Work
Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell (CBM) has been named to Bethesda Magazine’s 2022 list of Top Places to Work. This annual program recognizes local businesses who agreed to anonymously respond to several in-depth questions about employee engagement in a survey administrated by a third-party research group. Seventeen businesses demonstrating a deep commitment to team engagement and whose staff cumulatively delivered survey results reflecting that commitment were recognized in the November/December issue of Bethesda Magazine.
“We are incredibly pleased to be named a top place to work by Bethesda Magazine,” said Daniel L. Weaver, CPA, president and managing partner of CBM. “The COVID-19 pandemic led to many changes in our industry. By quickly moving to a flexible work environment for our staff, we really empowered our team to decide what was best for them. Maintaining the culture of being a great place to work was a priority, in the office and for those working at home. We now host weekly virtual staff meetings, provide physical and mental health resources, and are putting a focus on training and ways to keep things fun for our team.”
Among the survey responses shared by team members, CBM Supervisor Ginger Wu openly shared the following:
- About office culture: “Employees care about each other. We know each other’s family members, pets and favorite sports. We help each other in professional and personal growth.”
- About management: “Management welcomes and values input from employees and takes their opinions into consideration.”
As part of an ongoing commitment to being a top workplace, CBM recently relaunched pages on its website including the home page of its Careers section to highlight both the financial and non-financial benefits provided by the firm, and published a new page, “CBM at a Glance”, to showcase the ongoing events that inspire staff, foster teamwork and create a fun working environment. Recent activities documented on the latter page include an afternoon at Top Golf in Germantown, a recent book club meeting and an evening at the Kennedy Performing Arts Center to see Hamilton.
