Don’t Miss Early 2020 Due Dates
February 28, 2020 – Paper copies of Forms 1094-C and 1095-C must be filed with the IRS by this date. Employers with less than 250 employees can paper file.
March 2, 2020 – Applicable large employers must issue Form 1095-C to eligible full-time individuals. The due date to issue the Form 1095-C to full-time employees has been extended from January 31, 2020 to March 2, 2020. CBM recommends mailing these forms to employees on or before the due date in order to prove the forms were issued in a timely manner to everyone.
March 31, 2020 – Employers with 250 or more employees must file Forms 1094-C and 1095-C electronically with the IRS by this date.
Extensions
Businesses that feel they need additional time to file with the IRS should file Form 8809 (electronically if possible) for an automatic extension, on or before the due date for Forms 1094-C and 1095-C. Under certain hardship conditions, a taxpayer can apply for an additional 30-day extension.
Filing the extension only extends the due date for filing the information forms with the IRS. It does not extend the due date for furnishing the statements to employees.
