Director of Not-for-Profit Services Daniel L. Weaver and Senior Advisor Anthony Cuozzo are scheduled to present at the 2019 Greater Washington Society of CPAs’ (GWSCPA) Nonprofit Symposium in Washington, DC on Wednesday, December 18 from 9:05 – 9:55 am. The Symposium is an annual two-day event that delivers networking and professional education opportunities for hundreds of financial professionals in the not-for-profit sector throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan region. This year’s symposium will be held from December 17 to 18 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Mr. Weaver and Mr. Cuozzo’s presentation will focus on the 2016 issuance of FASB’s ASU 2016-14 Presentation of Financial Statements for Not-for-Profit Entities, a new standard which requires organizations to disclose both qualitative and quantitative information about an organization’s management of liquid resources to meet cash needs for general expenditures.

In this past year, Mr. Weaver has led a series of professional education events related to updates to not-for-profit accounting standards and the impact of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act on tax-exempt entities while Mr. Cuozzo is a regular speaker for GWSCPA.

Mr. Weaver and Mr. Cuozzo are also regular speakers at GWSCPA’s earlier symposiums.

This year, CBM also played a leadership role in the development of the symposium. Principal Julia Lafferty served as chair of the symposium planning committee. Last year, she served as co-chair. Ms. Lafferty is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Greater Washington Society of CPAs.

Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell (CBM) is a professional services firm delivering tax, accounting and business advisory expertise throughout the Mid-Atlantic region from offices in Bethesda, MD and Washington, DC.
