The Montgomery County Students Automotive Trades Foundation elected John Comunale, Senior Vice President at Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell (CBM), to its board of directors effective July 1. CBM, a full-service accounting and advisory firm with offices in Bethesda, MD and Washington, DC, has served auto dealerships throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan region and up and down the U.S. eastern seaboard since 1921.
MCSATF, a not-for-profit organization, represents a collaborative effort between the Montgomery County business and professional community, and Montgomery County Public Schools, to train high school students for skilled positions in the automotive field.
“I appreciate the chance to work with the Foundation to help the next generation of leaders enter the automotive industry and establish its successful future,” says Comunale. “Montgomery County’s economy relies on the people employed by thriving dealerships to serve the county’s transportation needs, and I look forward to providing my expertise in a meaningful way.”
Comunale, who also chairs CBM’s auto dealer practice, spearheads the firm’s involvement in and support for other area auto dealer groups including the Washington Area New Auto Dealers Association, the Maryland Automobile Dealers Association and the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association. Over the past year and a half, he and other tax leaders at the firm have delivered insights on the impact of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act on the industry.
Last year, CBM participated with other firms and the National Alliance of Auto Dealer Advisors in a succession planning survey intended to showcase the rate at which current dealership owners are considering or planning future ownership of their businesses.
