Ashley Lozupone, senior accountant at Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell (CBM), a full-service CPA and business advisory firm, was recognized as the 2016 Dotti Shields Outstanding Advisor of the Year by the Panhellenic Association at a ceremony on April 12, 2017 at the 13th annual George Washington University Greek Night of Achievement. This award’s ceremony honors individuals and chapters in the Greek community for remarkable accomplishments throughout the school year.
The Dotti Shields Advisor of the Year award is given out annually to individuals who demonstrate commitment to chapter excellence and community involvement. Winners give copious amounts of time to their respective chapters and promote the ideals of the George Washington University. Dottie Shields, for whom the award is named, won Outstanding Advisor of the Year five years in a row, providing ample reason to name the award after her.
“I’m so honored to win this award,” said Lozupone. “I was stunned to hear my name called.”
Lozupone has been involved with the Panhellenic Association for three years and was the recipient of the award as a result of her contributions to the finances of her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi. Throughout her time working with the GW ADPi chapter, she has spent countless hours revolutionizing their finances. She has helped create an organizational budget and empowered numerous officers to better execute their positions.
Additionally, Ashley’s work is reflected by the two finance awards the chapter won at the District Leadership Conference, one of which recognized most improved finances. Lozupone was inspired to become an advisor due to a close relationship she developed with her finance advisor in college. She also wanted to give women a role model to look up to and confide in.
The George Washington University’s Panhellenic Association is the governing body of the university’s sororities. Its mission is to inspire character development among the participating sorority members through friendships, community service and mutual respect and helpfulness.
“I look forward to continuing my work on behalf of the Panhellenic Association and Alpha Delta Pi,” adds Lozupone.
